John Enys, 1710-1773

Born c1710, John Enys was the eldest son of Samuel Enys and Dorothy, and was born in London. He married Lucy Basset, daughter of Francis Basset of Tehidy, on July 18th 1745; together, they had eight children. John became High Sheriff of Cornwall in 1751 and was a Justice of the Peace for Devon. John was executor of his father’s will in 1744, when he inherited the estate, and was widowed in 1758. After his own death, in 1773, he was buried at Gluvias.
